Israeli army mobilizes his forces around Gaza المحرر العربي

The Israeli occupation army announced the call up of additional forces in the Southern Command area responsible for the southern Israeli region, including the settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip, in response to the decision to raise the state of readiness in order to prepare for different scenarios.

This comes shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to end the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip if the Islamist group Hamas did not hand over Israeli detainees by Saturday.

The Israeli move also followed statements by US President Donald Trump, in which he threatened to “open the gates of hell” if Israeli prisoners held in Gaza are not released “by 12 noon on Saturday.”

The ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners face new complications, due to the procrastination of the occupation government in fully fulfilling its terms and in starting negotiations for the second phase.

In response to this, Hamas on Monday linked the handover of the next batch of prisoners to Israel, which was scheduled for next Saturday, to Israel’s commitment to implement the agreement and compensate for the entitlement of the past weeks retroactively.
